Chances are, if you live in coastal Florida your insurance agent has asked if you have wind mitigation protected on your property. If your response was a blank stare, then this is the blog for you.
Following a very active tropical storm season in 2004 & 2005 many insurance companies went bankrupt due to the overwhelming amount of claims and the costs of reparation. Thus, Wind Mitigation reports became valuable information to the status of a home’s possible damage in a wind event. Wind Mitigation Inspections determine the appropriateness of the inspected structure’s construction in strong winds, such as hurricanes. Inspections take into consideration features that are proven to reduce losses in hurricanes including: concrete block constructions, having gable end bracing, clips or hurricane straps and having a hip roof.
